It won’t affect us much – a clarification
My comment on the combined effects of global warming, lack of water, desertification etc. could be misread. I think it will affect us “a little”.
I think it affects many a lot! But from my privileged position in the US it will affect me personally only a little. And the same goes for most in the north-east US. We have enough fresh water, lots of energy imported from wherever, and we can export some of our pollution.
And we are living in a gated community. More or less invisible our borders keep out massive immigration.
BTW:
Theodore Roosevelt Quotes
Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States of America, was a dedicated naturalist and a great friend of the American Museum of Natural History. The following quotations are inscribed inside the Roosevelt Memorial rotunda at the Museum.
Nature
There is a delight in the hardy life of the open.
There are no words that can tell the hidden spirit of the wilderness, that can reveal its mystery, its melancholy and its charm.
The nation behaves well if it treats the natural resources as assets which it must turn over to the next generation increased; and not impaired in value.
Conservation means development as much as it does protection. [I guess you can never get a politician to make a straight, unqualified statement – sigh]
